From Corporate Purpose to Humanitarian Impact: How Hygiene Kits Reach Communities in Ukraine

The Journey of a Hygiene Kit

Picture a village near Ukraine's front line. A resident opens a small package containing soap, a bamboo toothbrush, toothpaste and other basic hygiene essentials.

The products inside are simple. For families living with disruption, displacement and uncertainty, they represent something more: dignity, stability and care.

What they cannot see is the journey that package has taken.

Far away, in conference centres, offices and hotels, employees at corporate meetings and events took time out of their day to assemble hygiene kits with CTW Events. For those employees, it was a shared team activity. For the person receiving the kit, it was support arriving when it was needed.

This is the story of how that journey works, through a partnership between CTW Events, People for People Foundation and LifeLine Ukraine.

Employee Participation at Global Scale

Since 2012, participants in CTW Events experiences have assembled more than 7 million kits, including hygiene, food and school supply kits, for communities around the world.[1]

These kits have supported communities recovering from natural disasters, people experiencing homelessness, families living in poverty and people displaced by conflict.

The story does not end when the final kit is packed. What happens next is what gives it meaning.

A World Where Need Remains High

At the end of 2025, 117.8 million people were forcibly displaced worldwide as a result of conflict, persecution, violence and human rights violations, according to UNHCR. That is around one in every 70 people.[2]

Behind every figure is a person navigating loss and uncertainty. Humanitarian organisations continue to face high demand for essential supplies, including hygiene products.

Partnerships between businesses and humanitarian organisations offer a practical way to turn corporate resources and employee participation into support for people in need.

Where Corporate Purpose Meets Human Need

Corporate responsibility has changed significantly over the past decade. What was once treated mainly as philanthropy is now part of business strategy, employee programmes and ESG frameworks.

Research published by the World Economic Forum highlights that company values and purpose are increasingly important to younger professionals when choosing an employer.[3] Leadership teams look for initiatives with clear outcomes, and stakeholders expect businesses to show how they contribute to their communities.

CTW Events was created to meet these expectations: bringing people together through hands-on activities that provide practical support to charity and community partners.

Supporting Communities During an Ongoing Crisis in Ukraine

More than four and a half years after the full-scale war began, Ukraine remains one of the largest humanitarian emergencies in the world.

The United Nations estimates that 10.8 million people across Ukraine will require humanitarian assistance in 2026, including more than 3.7 million internally displaced people.[4]

Communities close to the front line continue to face disruption to healthcare, transport, electricity, water and other essential services. For many families, everyday necessities cannot be taken for granted. Items such as soap, shampoo and toothpaste, often overlooked elsewhere, matter more during displacement and uncertainty.

Reaching these communities takes more than donations. It takes trusted partners who can move aid responsibly to the people who need it most.

The Organisations Behind the Impact

People for People Foundation

A Netherlands-based foundation established to mobilise the power of business during humanitarian crises. It works with companies, NGOs and humanitarian organisations to turn resources into action.[5] Within this partnership, it connects corporate contributions with trusted humanitarian networks.

LifeLine Ukraine

A Dutch ANBI-registered organisation supporting frontline communities through humanitarian aid, mobility projects and direct assistance programmes. It works through trusted local networks across Ukraine, with oversight from its team in Kyiv.[6]

Together with CTW Events, these organisations have created a pathway through which employee participation becomes humanitarian assistance.

How the Partnership Works: From Corporate Event to Community Support

  1. The corporate event

At meetings and events, employees come together through CTW Events to assemble hygiene kits. For many participants, the activity takes less than an hour.

  2. Coordination and logistics

Once assembled, the kits are consolidated and prepared for onward delivery. CTW Events works with People for People Foundation to direct them where support is needed.

  3. Humanitarian partnership

People for People Foundation acts as the bridge between corporate action and humanitarian delivery, drawing on its network of trusted partners.

  4. Local distribution in Ukraine

LifeLine Ukraine manages the final stage, distributing kits to displaced people, rural villages and communities affected by the war.

Behind every kit is a person: a family, an older resident, someone displaced from home, a community seeking stability.

More Than Material Aid

For Olga Krasko, Head and Co-founder of LifeLine Ukraine Foundation, the significance of these donations goes beyond the products themselves.

"The donation of hygiene products from CTW Events has been distributed to communities near the front line in Ukraine. The beneficiaries include internally displaced people and residents of rural areas living under extremely difficult conditions, where attacks remain constant. The support has been sincerely appreciated.

For Ukrainians, it is important not only to receive material aid, but also to feel that the world sees and cares about our everyday struggles. Thank you for standing with Ukraine and supporting LifeLine Ukraine in reaching those who need help most."[7]

Aid provides practical support. It also communicates solidarity, reminding communities facing hardship that they have not been forgotten.

The Power of Partnership

For Marcella Simons, Director of People for People Foundation, collaboration is central to reaching people in need.

"Working together with partners like CTW Events allows us to extend our reach and create a greater impact for communities facing crisis and hardship. By combining resources, expertise and shared commitment, we can ensure that essential hygiene products reach the people who need them most.

Partnerships like this remind us that meaningful change happens when organisations come together with a common purpose."[7]

Each organisation plays its part. Businesses contribute employee participation and resources. CTW Events delivers the hands-on experience. People for People Foundation coordinates humanitarian support. LifeLine Ukraine delivers aid on the ground.

Reporting the Contribution

For organisations running employee volunteering, CSR and ESG programmes, being able to report what their people contributed matters.

Through partnerships like this one, CTW Events can connect employee participation to documented outcomes: kits assembled, kits received by the partner and kits distributed to people in need.[1][7]

Looking Beyond the Numbers

Most employees who assemble a hygiene kit will never meet the person who receives it. They will not visit the village or community centre where it arrives.

The connection still exists. A simple action completed in a conference room becomes practical support for someone facing extraordinary challenges.

That is the journey of a hygiene kit. When businesses, nonprofits and humanitarian organisations work together, support can travel far beyond the walls of the workplace.
